The city of Durham is located wholly within Durham County, and represents one of the "points" of the "Triangle".  With I-40 and I-85 passing through the city, as well as NC Highways 54, 55, and US Highway 501, Durham is easily accessible from all parts of the Triangle. Known as the "City of Medicine", Durham has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, and enjoys a high quality of life and strong economic diversity.

Roxboro Road passes through the center of the City of Durham and is a major transportation corridor for the city. With over 26,000 daily travelers passing Roxboro Road Professional Center, this is one of the most visible sites in the city.  North Durham has seen tremendous growth and development throughout the years, and a new trend of infill development and redevelopment projects is now occurring. Recently, Northgate Mall and North Duke Crossings have been improved on a large scale to maintain their value and their existing client base. In addition, many residential communities, including new single-family subdivisions, senior low-maintenance homes and retirement communities, both approved for development and under construction, are located in the Infinity Road/Latta Road areas of North Durham, only a few minutes away.
